CIDNI Director and his South Africa team launch inter-professional training program for 6-month DR-TB treatment regimen in collaboration with Prof. Norbert Ndjeka, Chief Director of TB at the National Department of Health.
South Africa is leading the world in the role out of the new WHO drug-resistant TB treatment regimen using a 6-month short course treatment. CIDNI, in collaboration with the National Department of Health developed an inter-professional training program to support capacity development and to accelerate the role out of BPaL in primary care clinics – including nurse-led models of care. The initial trainings included over 200 healthcare workers in the Eastern Cape, with more training planned in KwaZulu-Natal soon.
