54th Union Conference Abstracts Accepted:

Our CIDNI trainees, current and former, along with our director, presented their abstracts at the 54th Union World Conference on Lung Health in Paris.

Dr. Jason Farley presented Dr. Keri Geiger’s dissertation work entitled “The Effects of Bedaquiline Necessitated Antiretroviral Changes on HIV Viral Load at MDR-TB Treatment Completion” in the HIV-TB and other comorbidities late-breaker session.

Katherine McNabb PhD(c) presented about some of her dissertation work entitled “Travel distance to rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis treatment and its impact on loss to follow-up: the importance of continued RR-TB treatment decentralization in South Africa” in the RIT/JATA student late-breaker session on lung health. She also presented “Supporting people with long COVID: policy recommendations derived from patient experience” in the COVID A-to-Z session.

Dr. Farley presented some date from his prior R01, “Nurse case management reduces treatment failure among MDR-TB patients in South Africa: Results from a cluster randomized trial” in the Person-centred care session.

Alanna Bergman MSN, RN, AAHIVS, PhD(c) presented about some of her dissertation work entitled “Using a mixed-methods approach to bring stigma research closer to clinical application in KwaZulu Natal South Africa” in the TB stigma, discrimination and equity session.
