The Maryland Department of Health (MDoH) released a guidance on cyclosporiasis on July 16, 2026. They are suggesting that everyone should wash their fresh vegetables several times even if pre-washed. Bleach does not kill cyclospora.
If you develop watery diarrhea that lasts for several days, go to your provider and ask to be evaluated. Hand sanitizer does not work on cyclospora and good hand washing with soap and water must be used.
