Dr. Jason Farley PhD, MPH, ANP-BC, FAAN, FAANP, AACRN, is an internationally recognized infectious disease nurse practitioner, epidemiologist, and health services researcher. His clinical trials and epidemiologic studies have pioneered the development and testing of strategies that optimize the care continuum for people with infectious illnesses. Dr. Farley is the creator and founding Director of The Center for Infectious Disease and Nursing Innovation (CIDNI), the nation’s first Nursing-focused center on infectious disease, whose vision is to develop quality, accessible care that is free of judgment, discrimination, and inequity for persons at risk or living with an infectious disease. Dr. Farley and his team have built the capacity of community-based providers across the State of Maryland for almost two decades. Through innovative community-based approaches, his work seeks to address social and structural barriers to care for people living with or at risk for life-threatening infections. Evidence from his work has shifted national treatment guidelines in South Africa as well as local approaches to care in Maryland. Dr. Farley joined the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing faculty as a clinical instructor in 2005 while pursuing his PhD. He became a tenured Professor in 2019 and became the Leadership and Innovation Endowed Chair in Nursing in 2021. He is jointly appointed within the Division of Infectious Disease within the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he maintains his clinical practice in infectious disease and holds leadership roles in both the Center for AIDS Research and the Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center. He has also served the Johns Hopkins University Administration as a member of the University Council, providing critical leadership on issues addressing the mission of The Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Farley will continue in the role of Director of CIDNI and our team is extremely proud of his new position and accomplishment.
