Alanna Bergman PhD, RN, AACRN is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing in Charlottesville Virginia. She is an infectious disease-trained nurse practitioner, with a PhD in nursing from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Bergman is a social and behavioral nurse scientist whose research focuses on infectious disease stigma in low resource settings. Her work uses mixed-methods to explore and quantify the impact of social stigma on HIV and tuberculosis care engagement. She is an associate editor of the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care and an active member of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. She is a provider at UVA’s Ryan White Clinic caring for people living with and at risk for HIV.

Populations of Interest: people with tuberculosis; HIV/TB co-infection; Drug-resistant TB; people marginalized by social stigma (people who use substances, unhoused, sexual and gender minorities, people who are incarcerated)
